A Harmonious Union: The Birth of the Wood Industry Association

In a monumental point for the woodworking community, the Woodworking Machinery Industry Association (WMIA) and the Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America (WMMA) have come together to create the Wood Industry Association (WIA), officially as of January 1, 2024.
With an impressive history spanning over a century, WMMA, established in 1899, dedicated itself to enhancing the productivity and profitability of U.S. woodworking machinery and woodworking tool manufacturers, along with the businesses that supported them. Meanwhile, since 1978, WMIA championed the cause of importers and distributors of woodworking machinery and ancillary equipment throughout North America. Both associations had been co-owners of the International Woodworking Fair® (IWF), a flagship event in the woodworking technology and design trade show calendar celebrated by enthusiasts worldwide. With this merger, WIA has now taken sole ownership of the renowned IWF show.
This momentous merger was a unanimous decision intended to create a unified voice for the wood machinery industry in North America. It brings forth a wealth of benefits for members, such as increased resources allocated to member programs, safety standards, and public policy advocacy. Furthermore, it opens up new horizons with expanded committee involvement and volunteer opportunities, all while streamlining operations to reduce redundancies and enhance efficiency.

The Wood Industry Association Board of Directors is as follows:
