What Can We Expect?

What Can We Expect?

February 1, 2017

One thing we can be sure of is that 2017 will bring change of some form to the way that companies operate in the US.

In the past few years, many business owners or managers have become disenchanted at all the new regulations that have made it difficult to operate a competitive business and compete in a global economy.

Recently, many business owners have told us" I am sick of the regulations, it is hard to make a profit and I am shutting things down versus trying to stay ahead of what we are being forced to do."

In speaking with many members, they are happy to have some steady work and they’re also hopeful that some positive changes will occur under the new administration in 2017. These new changes could allow these businesses to operate safely and make a reasonable profit again.

Our members and business owners have mentioned that they would be excited to start hiring again. If business does indeed pick up, the new challenge will be to find workers that are willing to be involved in the wood industry.

Even small changes will continue the optimism that has long been lacking in the industry.

The Wood Products Manufactures Association has always been focused on helping companies compete in a global economy. We will continue to share information from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) with our members on a regular basis as well as timely information that can help them on a regular basis.

Let's hope that we do not end up with any major surprises in the upcoming year.
