How are Vietnam and the US Female Labor Force Similar?

The wood products factories in Vietnam are not the only ones short on labor.  Clothing, shoe and electronics factories are dealing with the same issue.  Not enough good steady labor. Many of the laborers that were employed prior to the pandemic, are refusing to return to work.

In the United States, females that must work the second, third, or weekend shift, are unable to find affordable child care.   As a result, approximately 10 million US households are headed by single parents with children under the age of 18.  Some 80% of these parents are mothers.

In Vietnam, employers that are able to offer salary increases, rent support, or other incentives are likely to attract workers from other companies.  In the US, attracting and retaining employees who are also parents is an important part of the solution to our workforce problem.

All people want is an opportunity to take care of their family and generate some income to pay the bills.
