NEWS RELEASE
The Wood Products Manufacturers Association is pleased to announce "Splinters," a new series of monthly round table discussions. Splinters is designed to be a focused round table, where participation is free to WPMA members but is limited to 10 people only per session.
Held virtually the second Tuesday of every month, Splinters will explore significant trends, opportunities and challenges affecting wood products manufacturers around the country. Topics will include marketing and sales trends, the price and availability of lumber, new technology and new materials coming into play, and current production capacity among US manufacturers.
"We are starting this new series because we believe it is very important to reach out and inform our members about what's happening in our industry," said Philip Bibeau, executive director. "This is especially true in the COVID environment, where annual meetings and other gatherings are generally not possible. These somewhat exclusive cloud-based discussions will serve to build knowledge and engagement across our industry."
The first Splinters topic will be Raw Material Availability and Supply Chain Challenges. It will be held at 9 am EST on Tuesday, January 12, via a Zoom cloud meeting. If you would like to share your views and experience with the small group, please follow this link to reserve your spot.
The WPMA office has received MANY phone calls from members regarding our 2020 annual meeting. The most important thing to your board of directors is the safety of you (our members.)
After much thought and discussion the decision was made to work with the hotel to cancel our 2020 Annual Meeting that was to be held in Portland, ME.
Please mark your calendars for October 6-7, 2021. Our meeting will be held in Portland, Maine at the Portland Regency Hotel. The hotel will be operating under full CDC guidelines.
This is the first time since 1929 that we have not held an annual meeting. It was felt that by extending this to 2021 that everyone will be more prepared to enjoy a great networking and educational opportunity.
Should you have any questions please call Philip at the WPMA office at 978/874-5445.
We look forward to visiting with you in Portland, ME in 2021.
Join the WPE Lancaster team to present your porducts, October 14-15, 2021, at the largest exhibition and conference targeted specifically to the professional woodworking community in the Mid-Atlantic region. There are still opportunities for excellent position on the expo floor and limited opportunities in our Running Machine and Classic Machine Pavillions.
