Berkshire Veneer, located in southwestern Massachusetts, is looking for an inside/outside salesperson to join our fast paced, growing company. Our wholesale/retail veneer company has just finished a major expansion and is looking for a motivated salesperson to take the company to the next level.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, servicing existing accounts, establishing new customers, pulling and packaging orders, sampling new flitch stock. Forklift and computer experience is helpful. Veneer and/or lumber background helpful too, but we’re only too happy to train the right candidate who possesses the right attitude.

WOOD PRODUCTS SPECIALIST

The successful candidate must possess a combination of education, training, and experience to obtain knowledge and abilities generally equivalent to those typically possessed by a high school graduate. Typically possesses five or more years experience performing technical analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations. Must demonstrate a general knowledge of the distribution business, inspection, maintenance, design, and/or construction practices and standards.

The Wood Products Specialist will be responsible for providing assistance and normal record keeping on wood issues for the Maintenance and Inspection group. Typical responsibilities will include: performing analysis and developing recommendations regarding customer and/or company issues that lack precedent and require technical wood pole/product knowledge to resolve. Must be available 24 hours a day to respond to storm activities. Will be performing other duties as assigned.

It is necessary that the general manager understand the laminated products industry, especially as it applies to furniture, kitchen cabinets, manufactured housing, etc. A knowledge of the Southern California marketplace would be helpful, but it is not required. The ability to motivate a sales team as well as manage the operation on a day-to-day basis is an important prerequisite. We require at least 10 years experience in a company that manufactures wood products as well as the business acumen to assume overall P&L responsibility. It is important that this person have excellent leadership skills with regard to overseeing sales, manufacturing and administrative functions. The ability to think out of the box, especially as it applies to new business generation, is a must. Due to the fact that this is a stand-alone facility, the general manager must be a motivated self-starter and capable of running this division as if it were a $30MM independent business. Our shop produces laminated and wood tables, work benches, and case goods for the healthcare and hospitality industries.
