FSC Certification / Recertification
Choosing "green" is a growing trend among consumers. Americans are demanding green materials and are willing to pay more to get them but consumers are also beginning to ask, "How can I be sure this product is green?"
According to the US Federal Trade Commission, the difference between green washing and a valid environmental claim is verification of “green" product claims. Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody certification is one of the best ways to boost your "green" marketing message by verifying the environmental sustainability of your product line. This is especially true if you or your customers plan to participate in LEED or NAHB green building projects.
To help companies gain this competitive edge, the Wood Products Manufacturers Association (WPMA) partnered with the WoodNet Market Council to provide members with access to discounted FSC group certification services.
The average rate for a WPMA group member is $800 -$2500 plus travel. Rate inclues audit assistance with all required paperwork, preparation for annual audit in 60-90 days and annual education requirements. Fees for FSC certification via the WPMA/WoodNet Market Council member benefits are assessed on a sliding scale. As part of these services, WoodNet Market Council staff members will help your business develop the required paperwork and prepare for annual audits in less than 3 - 4 days.
*FSC certification and recertification rates are determined by number of employees.
The WoodNet Market Council project is partially funded by a grant from the Wood Education Resource Center of the US Forest Service.
